Jefferson “Professor Feijão" Viana
Professor Jefferson Rodrigues Viana, also known as "Feijão," is a highly accomplished martial artist with a diverse background spanning over 30 years. Hailing from João Pessoa, Brazil, he holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Karate, as well as a brown belt in Kickboxing. Having dedicated himself to Jiu-Jitsu for over 31 years, he has been a black belt for 14 years, with numerous competitive victories earned throughout Brazil.
Not only is Professor Viana a seasoned fighter, having trained MMA during his time in Brazil, but he is also a passionate and dedicated teacher. His mission is to help students become better not only in Jiu-Jitsu but also in life, using the art of martial arts to instill discipline, respect, and resilience. He believes in the transformative power of Jiu-Jitsu, striving to improve the lives of everyone who trains with him.
Outside the mats, Professor Viana is happily married to his wife, Samantha, and they are proud parents to three wonderful children. His family plays a central role in his life, and he often speaks of the importance of balancing martial arts and family life with passion and dedication. With his extensive experience, achievements, and deep belief in the values of martial arts, Professor Viana continues to inspire and shape the next generation of fighters and individuals.
Gunnar Harris
Gunnar Harris is the co-owner of Heavy Metal BJJ. He is also the owner of a small business accounting, bookkeeping, and fractional controller firm. He practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is currently a purple belt. Gunnar has trained Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu all over the world and highly values the beauty of combining the art of travel and jiu jitsu. He’s traveled to 49 states (plans to hit 50 by end of 2025) and has trained jiu jitsu in over 20 of those states. He has also trained in countries all around the world. He has trained at the biggest MMA gym in the world in Iceland and has trained and rolled with people such as Carlos Gracie Jr. in Brazil and Masakazu Imanari in Japan.

Gunnar is highly experienced in the entrepreneurship world at all levels. His hope is to bring to the Heavy Metal BJJ family the values of training, discipline, & travel. He wants to utilize his skills in small business to provide a streamlined member experience. He is also excited about the prospect of planning and leading jiu jitsu traveling trips for our members.
Dylan Streeter
Dylan is 22 years old and has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for about two years and kickboxing for five years. Other hobbies he’s interested in are nutrition and fitness. You can always find him focusing on these hobbies outside of classes. He’s always open and motivated to pass on and share his knowledge with others.
Not only is Dylan an awesome training partner during our adult classes, but he is also vital to our gym operations as a whole. He is a dedicated coach during our kids’ classes, working alongside our other professors. You can feel his enthusiasm watching our kids learn and grow as humans by pursuing the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We are lucky to have him on our team and are excited to watch him grow alongside our gym.
Xander
Xander, an 11-year-old, is the son of Professor Jefferson Feijao. Xander's journey in martial arts began with 1.5 years of wrestling before transitioning to Jiu-Jitsu, where he has excelled over the past 2 years.
Xander has demonstrated his prowess in various tournaments, achieving notable victories such as:
1st place in Gi and No-Gi at NAGA
Multiple 1st place finishes in Comp-Net tournaments
2nd place in ADCC No-Gi
2nd place in both Gi and No-Gi at Tap Cancer Out
1st place Gi at Fuji
2nd place No-Gi at Fuji
Xander is passionate about sharing his knowledge and skills in Jiu-Jitsu. He finds great joy in mentoring younger students, helping them develop discipline and strive to become the best martial artists they can be. Eagerly awaiting the day his baby brother Oliver can walk, Xander looks forward to teaching him the art of Jiu-Jitsu.
Outside of his martial arts training, Xander enjoys an active lifestyle that includes riding his bike, skateboarding, playing video games, and reading history books. His favorite aspect of Jiu-Jitsu is learning the intricate techniques and strategies taught by his father, Professor Jefferson.
